Despite traveling to Saudi Arabia with the rest of the team, Hakan Calhanoglu is lacking match fitness.

Indeed, the 31-year-old sustained a muscle injury in last Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Liverpool.

Therefore, he was unavailable for Sunday’s Serie A trip to Genoa.

Though not fully fit, Calhanoglu has made Inter’s Supercoppa Italiana squad.

However, Cristian Chivu is unwilling to risk aggravating the Turkish midfielder’s fitness.

As a result, Calhanoglu completed a separate training session away from the team today.

The same applies to Matteo Darmian, who has finally recovered from a long-term calf injury.

Indeed, the 36-year-old has been out of action since suffering a calf problem in the match against Slavia Prague in late September.
