Bolton Wanderers are reportedly set to move for Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, who is out of favour ahead of the deadline.

According to Alan Nixon, the newly promoted Championship side are expected to make an approach.

Bazunu, 24, is surplus to requirements at Saints and is in the final year of his contract on the south coast.

The Ireland international has made 97 appearances for Saints since joining from Manchester City in 2022, but an Achilles injury in the 2023/24 promotion campaign cost him the number one spot.

Subsequent loans at Standard Liege and Stoke City were unsuccessful, and he is expected to leave the club before the deadline. Dinamo Zagreb have also been linked with the goalkeeper.

Similarly to Aaron Ramsdale, Bazunu has been left out of matchday squads and did not feature in pre-season despite travelling to Germany. Head coach Tonda Eckert has made it clear Daniel Peretz will be his number one and George Long the back-up, with Bazunu and Ramsdale free to find new clubs. The window closes at 11pm on Tuesday (September 1) evening.
