According to RMC Sport, Bordeaux manager Albert Riera slapped a Saint Étienne player following his side’s defeat on Saturday evening. The defeat clearly riled up the former Liverpool player with the Spaniard allegedly resorting to violence, according to a pitchside journalist for BeIN Sports.
The identity of the player who was slapped is unknown. However, the incident took place down the tunnel after the conclusion of the match. Bordeaux looked to be in control of the match – a goal and a man to the good. Les Verts had other ideas though as they resolutely fought back to win the match 2-1 despite their man disadvantage.
This was much to the displeasure of Riera, who was angered after the final whistle. No footage of the incident has been caught despite tensions between the two sides visible following the conclusion of the match. The incident is thought to have taken place as Les Verts players celebrated their comeback victory with their fans.
