According to Sud Ouest, the nine million euros sought by French football’s financial watchdog will not be in place before Tuesday’s DNCG hearing, leaving Bordeaux exposed to relegation. Owner Gérard Lopez and prospective buyers from Sparta Capital have revised their takeover plan ahead of the session.

The National 2 side could see the case put under a stay if the file is deemed valid, or be relegated before a likely appeal, which would be handled before 15 July.

Club figures, including would-be buyer Franck Tuil and his partners, attended the Bordeaux commercial court on Monday to meet the official in charge of the continuation plan, Franck Michel, and judge-commissioner Jean-Louis Blouin.

They are seeking roughly a fortnight to allow the arrival of funds, three million euros from Lopez and six million from Sparta Capital, to be placed in escrow.

The British fund is also seeking assurances from the Métropole and its president Thomas Cazenave, who has been very sceptical so far, over the Stade Atlantique rent and their proposal to buy the ground. The stadium is central to the takeover, partners are being courted and a meeting with local officials could take place on Monday afternoon.
