Borussia Dortmund In Talks To Convince Arsenal To Let Star Depart | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund are ‘pushing to sign’ Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri before the transfer window closes, with talks under way between the clubs to ‘convince’ the Gunners.

Several departures are taking shape during the final stretch of the summer window at the Emirates, with Gabriel Martinelli set to join Al Hilal in a deal worth €70m.

Another Brazilian heading for the exit is Gabriel Jesus, who is set to depart for Barcelona in a deal worth €10m plus €4m in add-ons.

Meanwhile, Nwaneri’s departure had also emerged as a realistic possibility earlier in the window.

The 19-year-old already spent the second half of last season away from the Emirates, taking in a spell with Marseille.

Fulham and Everton had been tracking the midfielder, although neither pursuit progressed beyond an exploratory stage, while speculation surrounding a potential move to AC Milan had also been played down.

Now, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Dortmund are ‘pushing to sign’ Nwaneri from Arsenal on a potential deal.

The Englishman could be receptive to a move to the Bundesliga, with a prominent role unlikely to be forthcoming under Mikel Arteta, although Dortmund must first convince the Gunners to sanction his departure on acceptable terms.

The deal structure also remains unclear, with a loan including an option to buy or a permanent exit both possible, while Arsenal could command a substantial fee should the latter materialise, given Nwaneri has four years left on his contract.

The clock is ticking down, with Dortmund now needing to move quickly to try to get a swoop over the line.

Arsenal have been raising a good amount of cash over the course of the summer by offloading fringe players and Nwaneri could be the latest Gunners star heading through the door.

Incomings may also still happen at the Emirates and there have been loud calls for Arteta to sign another striker, which will only grow when Jesus officially completes his exit from the club.
