In addition to French attacking-midfielder Rayan Cherki, Borussia Dortmund are closing in on Swedish left-back Daniel Svensson as the transfer deadline approaches. Patrick Berger and the WAZ both report that the 22-year-old has agreed to personal terms with BVB and is awaiting the green light from his Danish club FC Nordsjaelland to fly to Germany for a medical.
Dortmund require acute assistance at both full-back positions due to less-than-stellar performances from both right-back Yan Couto and left-back Ramy Bensebaini. Julian Ryerson remains capable of playing both positions, but otherwise options remain thin. Pascal Groß has often been forced to deputize on the right-hand-side this season.
Svensson maintains an estimated market worth of €5.5m and thus counts as eminently affordable. The once-capped Swedish international also has experienced playing as a defensive midfielder and sweeper, another area in which Dortmund need assistance. A deal for the Stockholm-native looks to new wrapped up before Monday’s transfer deadline.
