According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund are progressing in their efforts to secure Rayan Cherki (21) from Olympique Lyonnais.

The Frenchman who won a silver medal with his nation at the Paris Olympics during the summer has become a top target for Dortmund ahead of the transfer window closing on Monday.

The Bundesliga side have reportedly been given the green light from Cherki to progress with their attempt to sign him. However, this does not mean that they have secured his personal terms, which they are still working on.

Romano reports that there is an exit clause in his contract with Lyon that would allow him to leave this winter for €22.5 million. This was previously reported by Sky Sports to be a secret verbal agreement made during the contract extension talks in September.

Cherki has long been linked with a departure from his formative club and this winter there have been several avenues that have reportedly opened up. Including Liverpool who are thought to have a long-standing interest in the attacking midfielder.
