Borussia Dortmund sweating over Julian Ryerson’s injury  | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund’s 28-year-old right-back Julian Ryerson sustained an injury in Norway’s UEFA Nations League game against Portugal on Sunday. Ryerson was taken off in the 66th minute after colliding with Francisco Conceição.

The injury to Ryerson is a major concern for Dortmund, who do not have a natural replacement at right-back in the first-team squad. The Black and Yellows sent Brazilian right-back Yan Couto on loan to Como during the summer.

In a recent interview with Ruhr Nachrichten, BVB sporting director Nils Ole Book stated: “Yes, we are certainly not overly well-stocked in terms of squad depth at the moment.”

He further added: “That’s why a lot is possible. However, it could also be that we first need to see a departure before making another signing.”

During the summer, the club were linked with Héctor Fort for an extended period, but the 20-year-old ultimately joined Spanish club Real Sociedad.

In the absence of Ryerson, left-back Daniel Svensson is one option to switch to the right side.
