Botafogo confirm return of Tiquinho Soares before Flamengo derby | OneFootball

Botafogo have announced the return of Tiquinho Soares, who could make his second debut in Sunday’s clássico against Flamengo at the Maracanã, kicking off at 16:00 Brasília time.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the 35-year-old has signed until the end of the season and is already training with the squad for the Brasileirão meeting.

Soares has been a free agent since mid-July after terminating his Santos contract over delayed wages. He featured for Mirassol on loan at the start of 2026 and held talks with Fortaleza before agreeing his Botafogo return.

Before the official announcement, he watched Botafogo’s defeat to Athletico-PR on Monday 24 from a box at the Engenhão.

This will be his second spell at the club, having joined from Porto in 2022 and stayed until early 2025, a period that included the 2024 Brasileirão and Libertadores titles.

He is racing to be ready and, if in the right condition, head coach Rodrigo Belão is likely to include him in the matchday squad.

Flamengo have a free week to prepare, with Leonardo Jardim overseeing three more sessions after Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 at CT Ninho do Urubu. The game will be broadcast in Brazil on Globo free-to-air, GETV on YouTube and Premiere pay-per-view.
