Botafogo’s supporters’ group Fúria Jovem staged a protest at the club’s training centre on Tuesday, demanding answers amid poor form. Members spoke with full-back Alex Telles, one of the squad’s leaders.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the group gathered to air grievances and seek explanations from players and staff.

The demonstration followed the 3-0 loss to Flamengo at the Maracanã, with Samuel Lino scoring twice and Carrascal adding the third, a result that has intensified pressure on Botafogo.

Fúria Jovem had already called for the removal of Rodrigo Bellão in a previous statement. An interim coach took over after Franclim Carvalho was dismissed in August, and the latest protest underlined that discontent.

In its note, the group expressed deep indignation at recent performances, citing a humiliating elimination, four successive defeats including the derby, and the fact only the Brasileirão remains this season. It demanded urgent measures and a high-profile, experienced coaching staff to address the squad’s problems, while vowing to keep supporting and holding the club to account.

Botafogo’s slump extends beyond the league, with elimination from the Sudamericana by Peruvian side Cienciano, 6-2 on aggregate.

In the Brasileirão, Botafogo sit 12th with 30 points from 24 matches and are winless in four, a sequence that framed the tense scenes at the training base.

Flamengo are second on 48 points, four behind leaders Palmeiras, and have a game in hand. Leonardo Jardim’s side host Mirassol at the Maracanã on Wednesday at 19:30 Brasília time, a rescheduled round-four fixture.
