Boto slams Dinamo Moscow over Plata collapse, warns clubs and agents | OneFootball

Flamengo sporting director José Boto has condemned Dinamo Moscow for pulling out of the deal for Plata, calling it a warning to clubs and agents, and saying the forward is welcome back.

Flamengo were informed on Tuesday that Dinamo had withdrawn, with the justification that the Ecuadorian failed medical tests in Russia. The forward had been sold last week for about 10 million euros, roughly R$ 60.1 million, travelled on Saturday and was even announced by the Russian club. Matheus Martins of Botafogo encountered the same issue.

Boto said he could not explain the Russians' actions. He added Flamengo accepted a very advantageous offer for Plata subject to conditions, then Dinamo scuppered the move and the matter is with the legal department. He stressed the player is welcome and expected to strengthen the team.

He also said Dinamo offered no specifics, only that for various reasons it would not take talks forward. In his view, this should serve as a warning to Brazilian clubs and to agents about doing business with such teams.

In a statement, Dinamo said the choice was guided by the club's long-term interests and that Plata and Martins would return to Brazil to report back to their sides. Plata now heads back to Rio de Janeiro to rejoin Leonardo Jardim's squad.
