Bournemouth announce the signing of Antonio Silva | OneFootball

Bournemouth have completed the signing of Portuguese defender António Silva on a five-year deal.

The Cherries have signed the player for a deal worth a reported €30 million (approx £25.6 million) with €25 million of that to be paid up front.

The 22-year-old Silva had come through the academy at Benfica and had a hugely impressive debut season before becoming a regular for the Lisbon-based side. 

The Portuguese international featured 183 times for the Eagles in total, chipping in with 10 goals from central defence with his last official game for the club coming in a European qualifier against St. Gallen on Thursday.

"I am very happy to be here," Silva said on his arrival. "It's a pleasure to play for Bournemouth and in the Premier League. I can't wait to start the season with my teammates and I'm excited to be here.

"The mentality is always to win. I will try my best, and I will play for the fans. We have everything here that helps us perform on the pitch, and I can't wait to get started."
