Ghana international Antoine Semenyo opened up to the English press in recent hours, recounting his remarkable development at Bournemouth.

With nine goal involvements already this season (six goals and three assists) in the Premier League, Antoine Semenyo told The Times about the behind-the-scenes story of his impressive rise at Bournemouth. Signed for just over €10 million in 2023, the Ghanaian revealed that he keeps a journal where he notes areas for improvement after each match, relying on video clips sent by an analyst.

"I get clips from every match, every single one. I watch them on my own. The game before the one against Everton, I saw several chances where the ball went to the far post and I wasn’t there. So I worked on that in training, and I wrote it in my journal," he explained. It's worth noting that the Ghanaian's career path has not always been straightforward.

Before shining in the Premier League, Semenyo briefly gave up football at the age of 15 after being released by Crystal Palace: "I’d just had enough of not being picked by most of the clubs where I went on trial. Crystal Palace was the breaking point. I said to myself: you know what, forget it, enjoy being a kid, see your friends, go to school, just be normal."
