Everton ended Bournemouth’s perfect home record this season with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Vitality Staadium.
The match was tight and scrappy, with chances at a premium. Bournemouth dominated possession (55%) but struggled to convert, managing just two shots on target from five attempts. Everton, with only 45% possession, were more clinical, recording three shots on target from 13 efforts.
The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Jack Grealish’s 20-yard effort took a wicked deflection off Bafode Diakite and spun past Djordje Petrovic.
The hosts had a few chances to snatch a point, with Antoine Semenyo’s 23rd-minute strike saved by Jordan Pickford and Eli Junior Kroupi’s potential opener ruled out for a tight offside.
The Toffees also threatened, with Alex Scott heading against his own bar and Thierno Barry denied by Petrovic in the second half.
The victory lifts Everton into the top half of the table, level on points with Merseyside rivals Liverpool, while Bournemouth must regroup after their fifth Premier League game without a win.
