Adrien Truffert (23) has enjoyed a good start to life at the Vitality Stadium. Having made the move from formative club Stade Rennais to Bournemouth at the start of the summer, he has quickly established himself as the starting left-back.
Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, the Frenchman revealed that the Cherries’ interest dates back to the previous January, and it afforded him the time to weigh up the move and then to plan ahead of time. “I had quite a few English classes at Rennes,” revealed Truffert.
It was Bournemouth’s insistence on getting a deal done that made it a no-brainer. “I felt desired. I really wanted to come here, and I didn’t come in blind. I couldn’t be in a better place,” said Truffert.
Truffert revealed that playing in England was always one of his “dreams”, as is a return to the France national team. To date, he has failed to add to his one cap, which came back in the summer of 2024. “Every player has that in the back of their mind, but you have to perform over the long term in order to be called up. I am focused on my progression and what will happen will happen,” said the former Rennes defender.
The Frenchman then revealed what he believed to be the reason for Bournemouth’s success. “There were departures in the defensive sector, but things are going well because the club continued to recruit quality players. We have this cohesion that makes us perform well and a manager (Andoni Iraola) who has clear and audacious ideas,” he said.
