Vasco have been without a main shirt sponsor since the end of 2025 and, with finances strengthened by Rayan’s sale, the club are taking a cautious, patient approach to securing a new deal. According to Globo.com, they plan to widen talks beyond betting companies in the short term.
The forward was sold to Bournemouth in England for €35 million, €28.5 million fixed and €6.5 million in add-ons. Vasco retained approximately €25 million, R$ 151 million, paid up front, reinforcing cash flow for the first half of 2026.
President Pedrinho and his board prefer a partner from outside the betting sector, citing doubts over the financial solidity of many operators. The intention is to hold discussions with firms in other industries through to roughly the end of the first half of the year.
Betting brands are not ruled out if the initial search stalls or a lucrative and secure offer arrives. Betfair, the previous main sponsor, paid about R$ 40 million a year to appear on the front of Vasco’s shirt.
Initial talks were held with carmaker BYD in January, but they did not progress to formal negotiations. That month, Vasco rejected official proposals from 01bet and EnergiaBet due to compliance concerns and a lack of financial guarantees.
