Premier League clubs set a summer transfer record after spending 3.46 billion pounds, 4.03 billion euros, with total outlay passing 4 billion euros for the first time, according to Reuters.
It comes a season after the division first cleared 3 billion pounds. The report also noted that 38% of deals were completed between Premier League clubs, up from 30% last season.
Manchester City, now managed by Enzo Maresca, led the spending with 458 million pounds, 534 million euros.
City signed Argentina international midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for 145 million euros, matching the Premier League’s record fee set last year by Liverpool with the transfer of Newcastle forward Alexander Isak.
Four other deals topped 100 million pounds. Bradley Barcola left PSG for Liverpool for 123 million pounds, 143 million euros, including bonuses, Morgan Rogers moved from Aston Villa to Chelsea for 117 million pounds, 136.5 million euros. Elliot Anderson joined Manchester City from Nottingham Forest for 116 million pounds, 135 million euros, and Sandro Tonali moved from Newcastle to Tottenham for 100 million pounds, 116 million euros, including bonuses.
