According to AS, Valencia sporting director Braulio Vázquez has taken responsibility for appointing Javier Aguirre, convinced the Mexican suits the club’s predicament, with the team second bottom after one win in seven league matches.

He says Aguirre is unfazed by Valencia’s context, and the pair have discussed the need to reinforce with a centre-back.

Aguirre is scheduled to arrive in the city on Thursday. His Spanish aides, Pol Llorente and Toni Amor, are set to reach Valencia earlier and will speak with club coaches. He plans to meet the players on Thursday and Friday, then lead training on Monday.

He also revealed late-night talks with Aguirre in recent days, including nearly two hours after the Alavés game discussing team details, and said Aguirre has requested videos to study the squad in depth.

Aguirre has signed until 30 June, with an automatic extension if he secures at least Europa League qualification. Braulio stressed he has no coach signed or even spoken to for next season. He added that Aguirre’s continuity could still be considered without those benchmarks, based on daily work and the relationship between staff and dressing room.
