In recent years, Arsenal have generally had quite a good crop of Brazilian players, so it’s a shame that when Brazil face Senegal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, November 15th there will only be one Gunner potentially involved.
Carlo Ancelotti named his squad on Monday, bringing confirmation that Gabriel Martinelli won’t recover in time for the November break.
Gabriel Magalhaes has been included in the squad, whilst Gabriel Jesus remains on the sidelines working to recover from his ACL injury.

Having already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, Brazil are currently using the international breaks to play some friendly matches around the world.
In October, they travelled to Asia for a couple of games against South Korea and Japan. Gabriel helped Brazil to keep a clean sheet in the former of those two fixtures, whilst Martinelli scored in the latter.
This month, the team will play Senegal in a friendly on Saturday, November 15th, followed by a game against Tunisia in Lille on Tuesday, November 18th.

The obvious positive is that Gabriel won’t have to leave the continent over the break. Lille is only a little over an hour from London by train, as opposed to the transatlantic flights the centre-back usually has to make.
As for Martinelli and Jesus, the hope is that Martinelli will be back in time for the north London derby on November 23rd, whilst Jesus is pushing for a return in December.
