As expected, Carlo Ancelotti unveiled his squad on Monday for the upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia. Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Neymar have been left out.
Carlo Ancelotti delivered his second call-up list as Brazil manager this Monday. Ahead of the crucial clashes with Chile and then Bolivia to wrap up the South American qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup, the Italian coach has notably omitted Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr, and Neymar. Ancelotti explained his decision."There are new players in this second call-up. Neymar is not here; he had a minor issue last week. But we don't need to test him; everyone knows what he can do," Ancelotti said before addressing the absence of the Real Madrid players.
"They are not in the squad because I want to meet new players whose profiles I don't know well yet. Technically, I know all the players, all of them. I want to get to know other players who can help the national team succeed," added the coach.
Already assured of a place at the 2026 World Cup after securing third spot from 16 matches in the South American qualifiers, Brazil will play two final games: against Chile at the Maracanã on September 4, and then away to Bolivia on September 9.
