Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Spain's World Cup-winning captain Rodri from Manchester City.

The midfielder was also pursued by rivals Real Madrid this summer but it is the Spanish champions who have won the race for his signature.

Barça will pay a fee of €76.5million (£65.3m) for the 30-year-old, who had just one year remaining on his City contract, with €60m being paid upfront and the rest available in 'attainable bonuses', according to The Athletic.

Rodri has signed a four-year contract at the Camp Nou.

It brings an end to a massively successful spell at the Etihad Stadium which saw him win every major team honour available, including the winner in the Champions League final, and the Ballon d'Or in 2024.

He is set to wear his usual No. 16 jersey with Barcelona, which will be given up by Fermín López, who now takes the No. 7.
