Sheffield United have confirmed the sacking of Rubén Sellés after barely three months.
Sellés was appointed to the Bramall Lane hot seat in the summer as Chris Wilder's replacement but departs on the back of six straight defeats in all competitions.
Friday's five-goal hammering by Ipswich Town proved to be the last straw for the 42-year-old's tenure as he parted ways by the Blades barely 48 hours later.
Following a review of recent performances, and taking into account the feelings of supporters, the timing of the change has been made to give the club the best possible opportunity to improve the current league position," read a club statement.
"The board of directors wish to thank Mr Sellés for his hard work."
Ironically Sellés's replacement is set to be the man he originally succeeded in the Steel City with Wilder expected to be installed for a third spell in charge.
The former defender was deposed by United after losing last season's Championship play-off final to Sunderland deep in added time.
