The rumours that Chelsea are considering loaning out Josh Acheampong to Crystal Palace, who have just lost Marc Guehi to Man City are ramping up.

Sky Sports have just dropped an exclusive on that subject, saying that formal talks have yet to take place between the two clubs, but point out that they have a very strong relationship after completing a number of deals in recent years.

They add that it’s “unclear” whether it would be a permanent deal. It’s hard to imagine Chelsea would go for that – but then again these sporting directors have done some pretty outlandish things.

The youngster has 9 league appearances this season, as well as 4 in the Champions League and 3 in the League Cup. His most recent start came in the League Cup defeat to Arsenal.

Chelsea fans would dislike a loan move and hate a sale

This would be a very unpopular move with Chelsea fans, who are frustrated they haven’t seen more of Acheampong in the last couple of years.

He’s clearly so talented, but Enzo Maresca didn’t trust him as much as most fans would have liked. Now it seems like Liam Rosenior may be heading the same way. Letting Acheampong go with any kind of sale clause would be criminal. A loan which guarantees him minutes would be acceptable – but we’d still just rather see him stay and play at Stamford Bridge.

In other news…

Rosenior was asked about Cole Palmer’s status in his press conference today. He continued to try to play down the rumours that the attacker isn’t happy at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea manager had some bad news to deliver on Dario Essugo, the midfielder who signed in the summer and is already on the Romeo Lavia fast track to a wasted first season.
