Brenden Aaronson made a swift return to United States duty after his wedding, coming off the bench as Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost 2-1 to Germany despite Antonee Robinson’s spectacular strike.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds United attacker was named in Pochettino’s 26-man squad for this summer’s World Cup and joined a camp ahead of two final friendlies. He then flew to Medford to marry, a trip approved by the head coach.
He rejoined the group the next day and was an unused substitute against Senegal last weekend.
Named on the bench again for Saturday’s meeting with Germany, he was introduced with 18 minutes left, replacing Mailk Tilman.
Kai Havertz put Germany ahead after two minutes. Robinson, the Fulham full-back and Aaronson’s Premier League teammate, levelled with a fierce first-time volley from the edge of the box on 37 minutes.
Leroy Sane struck the winner three minutes before the hour, and the USA could not find an equaliser.
