Brenner is nearing a return for Vasco after choosing conservative treatment for a left foot ligament injury, with the battle for a starting berth still open.

The striker was injured a month ago against Bahia, went off at half-time, and scans showed no fracture but confirmed ligament damage in his left foot.

He opted against surgery to avoid a long lay-off. Had he gone under the knife, the absence could have reached four months.

The setback arrived just as he had earned trust under Pedro Emanuel. Previously rotating with Spinelli, he helped send Vasco through against Fluminense in the Copa do Brasil last 16 with a brace in the 3-1 win.
