Brentford conquer Chelsea and claim West London bragging rights in an unforgettable 3-0 victory for the hosts, rising to third place in the Premier League in the process.

Seeking to build upon their undefeated start to the 2026/27 campaign, Keith Andrews’ side delivered an impressive home performance to defeat West London rivals 3 goals to nil at home, sending the Bees into the top 3.

With the Gtech Community Stadium rocking, it was a nervy opening 10 minutes or so, but the first real opportunity of the encounter came in the way of the visitors as Danny Welbeck picked up the ball inside the 18-yard box and laid it off to his attacking teammate, Pedro Neto, whose left-footed whipped effort forced a strong save from Caoimihin Kelleher in the Brentford net.

After 20 minutes had passed in the contest, Chelsea had really been stamping their authority away from home, controlling possession but just couldn’t find an opening against a well-drilled home defence.

Despite early dominance from the Blues, the hosts began to grow into the encounter with two corners in quick succession before a long throw into the Chelsea box from Michael Kayode nearly crafted an opening for Keane Lewis-Potter to break the deadlock, but his tame strike was blocked and easily dealt with by the visitors.

On the brink of half an hour being played in West London, Cole Palmer won a free kick for the Blues on the edge of the box, but it was their star summer signing Morgan Rogers who took it, and his strike was easily gathered by the Brentford goalkeeper.

The Bees registered their first shot on target in the 36th minute after Igor Thiago showed brilliant strength to hold the ball up deep into the Chelsea half before firing a pass into the feet of Yehor Yarmoliuk; however, his low strike heading for the bottom left corner was saved by Emiliano Martinez.

The game began to open up in the first 10 minutes following the half-time interval with some entertaining end-to-end action, but once again neither side could really fabricate any clear-cut chances early in the second half.

With 30 minutes remaining in the contest, the deadlock was finally broken by the hosts as an inswinging corner found the head of Jannik Schuster, and the central defender directed his header across goal into the path of Jaidon Anthony, who nodded home from close range for his first goal in Brentford colours.

As we approached the final 15 minutes of the evening, the away side were up in arms out of desperation, certain that Brentford’s Mamadou Sangaré had fouled Valentín Barco inside the penalty area, but a swift VAR check dismissed any appeals for a spot kick.

The hosts delivered a knockout blow to the visitors in the 82nd minute, doubling their lead thanks to Brazilian striker Thiago in true poacher’s style, calmly slotting home a rebound from Kevin Schade’s saved effort before wheeling away in celebration.

With the game reaching its ultimate conclusion, Brentford added insult to injury as Schade’s deflected low cross found substitute Fabio Carvalho at the back post, sealing the deal on a memorable victory at the Gtech Community Stadium.
