At this point, Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United feels like a matter of when, not if.

A few days ago, The Peoples Person reported that Mbeumo had given Manchester United his approval for a switch to Old Trafford.

While that update excited United fans, seeing pictures of Mbeumo holding a United jersey, signing his contract, and shaking hands with head coach Ruben Amorim will be the moment that truly sends them into celebration.

The Latest on United’s Pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo

United are willing to meet the Cameroonian forward’s wage demands, with reports suggesting he wants £250,000 per week (a substantial increase from his current £50,000-a-week deal at the GTech Community Stadium).

However, their initial bid of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons was rejected.

Brentford remain firm, demanding at their asking price be met to sanction his departure.

While United are expected to return with an improved offer, Brentford’s latest transfer activity suggests negotiations could become more straightforward.

Brentford prepare for life without Bryan Mbeumo

According to Teamtalk, Brentford are gradually coming to terms with losing their 2024/25 Goal of the Season winner.

Replacing Mbeumo’s 27 goal contributions was always going to be a challenge, but after assessing the market, Brentford believe Celtic’s Nicolas Kühn has the quality to be a seamless replacement.

Kühn’s pace, creativity, and goal-scoring ability have convinced the London club that they will cope without their Old Trafford-bound forward.

Since joining Celtic in early 2024, the German has excelled, recording 21 goals and 15 assists last season.

Premier League sides (including Brighton and Hove Albion) as well as several Bundesliga clubs have expressed interest in Kühn, but Brentford appear to be leading the race.

For a reported £20 million, the Bees are confident of securing a deal.

With Brentford advancing their pursuit of Kühn, United will hope this accelerates Mbeumo’s exit.

According to Rudy Galetti, Brentford are seeking around £60 to £65 million for the forward, with £50 to £55 million set as a fixed fee.

Now, it’s down to United to return with a stronger bid and complete the transfer.
