Brentford are sweating on the fitness of Mikkel Damsgaard ahead of Saturday’s trip to Elland Road after the attacker picked up a knock during Monday’s 2-2 draw with virtually relegated Wolves.

The Bees raced 2-0 up inside 37 minutes through Michael Kayode and Igor Thiago, before Adam Armstrong pulled one back before the break. Shortly before Tolu Arokodare’s 77th-minute equaliser, Damsgaard took a knock, tried to continue, then made way for defender Kristoffer Ajer. His availability for Leeds United is in doubt.

Damsgaard has three goals and four assists in 26 Premier League appearances this season, 18 of them starts. He did not start the 1-1 draw against Leeds in December, coming on for 30 minutes. “He will be a concern and I haven’t spoken to the medics yet.” He was speaking to West London Sport. “He had an injury a few weeks ago against Forest. It has been frustrating and he has played through a lot of pain, so we have to see how he is.”

The Forest game referenced was on 25 January, when Damsgaard went off after 36 minutes with a knee issue and missed one Premier League match. He has since featured seven times across all competitions, completing 90 minutes twice.

He will be assessed later this week and could join a growing absentee list. Vitaly Janelt, Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey are out until after the March international break, while Josh Dasilva, Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho are likely to miss the rest of the season. Brentford have won one of their last five league matches, a 4-3 victory at Burnley, and have drawn the last two.
