Brentford v Frankfurt: Bees face stern test before Spurs opener | OneFootball

Brentford complete pre-season on Saturday when Eintracht Frankfurt visit the Gtech Community Stadium, kick-off 3pm, in their final run-out before Tottenham Hotspur open the Premier League season next weekend.

According to Hounslow Herald, it is only the second open friendly after last weekend’s 4-2 win at Rennes. Frankfurt represent a clear step up.

Frankfurt finished eighth following a turbulent year that saw Dino Toppmöller and Albert Riera depart before Adi Hütter returned in late May. They scored 61 despite the mid-season loss of Omar Marmoush, but conceded 65, with only Heidenheim and Wolfsburg worse.

Hütter’s side favour vertical attacks and an intense press, so this should be a sharp examination of Keith Andrews’ squad.

For Brentford, 22-year-old Nnamdi Collins could be tested by Igor Thiago, who scored in France on his first appearance after returning from the World Cup.

Brentford narrowly missed Europe last season, finishing behind Brighton on goal difference and one point shy of Sunderland in seventh. Thiago and Ethan Pinnock put them two up, and Callum Wilson came off the bench with a goal and an assist. Mamadou Sangare and Jaidon Anthony made their first appearances in front of Brentford supporters, and with only two defeats at the Gtech in 2026 but just two wins in 10, Saturday is a final audition before Spurs.
