Brentford thrashed Comets Ladies 8-1 to earn their place in the Capital Cup quarter-finals following an excellent display at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday.

Brentford had the game wrapped up by half-time with Chloe Logie scoring five of the home side’s six goals in the opening 45 minutes.

Logie went on to score once more in the second half as Brentford continued their defence of the Capital Cup and started 2025 in style with a big win.

In their first game of the New Year, the Bees were looking to continue their incredible run of form which had seen the side lose only one game so far this season.

Sophie Boycott played for the first time in two years following a long-term injury which kept her sidelined.

Rosalind Duignan-Pearson nearly gave Comets an early lead but her shot from outside the box crashed against the post.

Brentford soon got themselves ahead following the Comets chance, and it was Logie who opened up the side’s account for 2025 as she found space inside the box and struck the ball powerfully into the top right corner.

It was all Brentford in the opening half and the side could have made it 2-0 inside 10 minutes but a Paula Holguin shot was saved well by Saaga Leppanen after the forward found space inside the box.

The next five minutes saw Logie score three more times, with the first of those coming on 19 minutes.

Holguin had a part to play in Brentford’s second, crossing the ball to Logie who nodded home in confident fashion.

The striker sealed her hat-trick on 21 minutes and, almost instantly, scored a fourth with another clinical finish from inside the box, as the Bees' number nine blew Comets away.

Holguin soon joined in on the goalscoring action as the striker got her first on 35 minutes with a good finish.

Logie struck one more time for the west Londoners before the break, making it five goals for the forward in the opening half.

Brentford started the second half well and almost made it six when Freya Worsley got on the end of a corner from Nikki Woods but her headed effort was gathered well.

Comets did manage to get a goal themselves scoring the first in the second half through a long-range strike from Marissa Wilkins.

The Bees understandably took their foot off the gas in the second half with the damage already being done in the opening half.

Logie found the net again for the hosts just shy of 80 minutes when she smashed home a penalty kick after being brought down inside the box.

Woods joined in on the goalscoring act wrapping up an excellent day at the office for the hosts scoring on 90 minutes.
