Brentford arrive at St. Andrew’s on the back of a statement opening-weekend win, having beaten Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 without reply at the Gtech Community Stadium.
That result leaves Keith Andrews with a selection headache of the good kind three days later, and he has already confirmed there will be changes as he manages a schedule that also takes his side to Leeds United this weekend.
“We have that depth, we have that quality,” Andrews said. “Will there be changes tomorrow? Yes. How many? I’m not telling you, obviously.”
Sepp van den Berg remains out with a groin injury, and Antoni Milambo continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury, while Fábio Carvalho is still working back from the serious knee injury that has kept him out since last November. Andrews reported no fresh fitness concerns from the win over Tottenham beyond a few minor knocks and bruises. Ethan Pinnock is not expected to be involved at St. Andrew’s.
Callum Wilson, who made his competitive Brentford debut from the bench against Spurs, is confirmed to feature and could make his first start for the club. Mikkel Damsgaard, left out of the Tottenham squad entirely, is strongly expected to come into midfield, while summer signing Jannik Schuster is also in contention for a full debut. Andrews has stressed that selection calls across his squad are marginal, with the depth added this summer allowing him to rotate significantly without weakening his side.
Brentford possible starting XI (4-3-3): Valdimarsson; Hickey, Ajer, Collins, Henry; Janelt, Damsgaard, Schuster; Anthony, Wilson, Schade
The Carabao Cup match kicks off at 20:00 on Tuesday, 25 August 2026.
