Brest in talks with Montpellier for Joris Chotard

Brest are in talks with Ligue 2 side Montpellier HSC for the signing of France youth international Joris Chotard (23), according to Foot Mercato. The 23-year-old has entered the final months of his contract with his formative club and is expected to leave La Paillade on the back of their Ligue 2 relegation. The outlet adds that several Ligue 1 sides the likes of Auxerre and Nantes, as well as Belgium’s Anderlecht, were interested in Chotard.

Brest and Montpellier are reportedly progressing in their talks for Chotard to join Eric Roy’s side for a total transfer fee of around €2m, without taking into account performance-related add-ons. Brest were in the market for an experienced defensive midfielder after parting ways with Mahdi Camara. The former Saint-Etienne midfielder gave OGC Nice his word that he would join Franck Haise’s Gym, but Rennes hijacked the move by offering Camara improved terms.
