So far this month, the League One leaders have signed goalkeeper Harry Tyrer from Premier League Everton, whereas fellow shot-stopper Jak Alnwick left the Welsh capital in favour of a permanent move to Huddersfield Town.

Barry-Murphy's men strengthened their grip on top spot in the third tier with a 2-1 victory at Bradford City last Saturday, thanks to goals from David Turnbull and Calum Chambers.

Meanwhile, Cardiff youngster Ronan Kpakio has attracted transfer interest from Manchester United and AC Milan, as well as other European giants.

The Bluebirds have an opportunity to further strengthen their League One title credentials when they host Stockport County this Saturday, while acquiring new players could also boost their promotion chances.

Discussing his side's latest transfer activity, Barry-Murphy told Wales Online: "I’ve been pretty open about the areas of the team that we need to improve.

"From my understanding, it will probably be towards the latter stage of the window that it may be possible to do something. We believe the players will improve a lot in the second half of the season.

"That’s probably why we don’t feel as if we need to do a lot, but we’re still focused on improving the squad and not neglecting the fact that we want to push the club forward very aggressively, very quickly.

"So if the right players become available, which we think they will in the last week of the window, then hopefully we can improve the squad, while remaining obsessively focused on our own players."

The Bluebirds boss also dropped an update on goalkeeper Ethan Horvath's future: "Kion (Etete) has gone to St Mirren and, obviously, Ethan, I hope everything materialises in the way that he wants. But after that, there’s nobody else we expect to leave."

Horvath has been on loan at Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday this term, and could seal a permanent move to Major League Soccer.

Cardiff supporters are unlikely to be concerned by the fact that Barry-Murphy has revealed that his side are not set to strengthen their ranks until the end of the transfer window.

The Bluebirds have shown their class in League One so far this term, and deservedly sit six points clear of second-place Lincoln City, who host Burton Albion on Thursday.

Amid the Welsh club's dominance in the third tier this campaign, the division as a whole has been weaker than in recent seasons, which is demonstrated by the fact that just 10 points separate the play-off places from the relegation zone.

Therefore, the Bluebirds appear unlikely to be caught by promotion rivals Lincoln and Bradford, even if they fail to acquire their transfer targets this month.

Barry-Murphy has the luxury of being able to count upon some of the most talented youngsters in the EFL, such as Kpakio, Dylan Lawlor, and Joel Colwill.

Furthermore, Cardiff have been able to rely on the attacking efforts of striker Yousef Salech, who has scored 12 goals in 26 League One appearances so far.
