Despite committing to a £73.7 million deal to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško in 2025, Manchester United may still find themselves spending heavily on a striker.

Interestingly, they arguably should have done so in the summer, as they sought to replace Joshua Zirkzee with a proper striker as Šeško’s alternative.

However, a concrete offer for Zirkzee came far too late in the window, with INEOS turning down Everton’s offer to sign the Dutchman as they had no time to source a replacement.

Come January, however, Everton or one of Zirkzee’s other suitors could return for him, and United will need to know who to bring in as his replacement.

Indeed, The Peoples Person recently advocated for the Red Devils to move for Brian Brobbey.

The article highlighted how the Sunderland striker is on the rise, and that Arsenal and Manchester City’s defences have felt his wrath.

Days later, an interesting claim has emerged. Dean Jones, via Flashscore, is now reporting:

“Sunderland would value Brobbey at around £50million and, more importantly, are not operating from a position where they need to sell.”

United, then, now have an idea of how much they may have to offer to get Sunderland to the table.

Yet with the resurgence the striker is experiencing, that is, if he can pick it up again after returning from injury, and the interest he is commanding, he could go for far more. How much that is, we will have to wait and see.

What is undeniable, though, is that if the Red Devils get their hands on him, they could possess one of the fiercest striking departments in the league.
