Brice Samba will miss Rennes’ final-day trip to Marseille after his booking against Lyon triggered a suspension. The goalkeeper collected his fifth yellow card of the Ligue 1 season on Sunday.
According to L'Équipe, the caution came in the 40th minute when he brought down Moreira in the area. Lyon scored the penalty through Corentin Tolisso as Rennes were beaten 2-4.
Franck Haise said the referee, Turpin, told him there were two simultaneous contacts on the penalty, with Al-Tamari also involved, and that the booking would stand. He added they would likely be without Brice for the final Ligue 1 match and that the club had yet to decide how to proceed.
Samba has missed only one league game this season, at Lens on seven February, a 1-3 defeat. Then-coach Habib Beye left him out amid dressing-room tensions, with 20-year-old Mathys Silistrie starting in goal.
With two rounds remaining, only three points separate Rennes in fifth and Marseille in seventh in the race for Europe.
