Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Millwall winger Femi Azeez on a four-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months, in a deal worth in excess of £15m. The 25-year-old Nigeria international completed the move in the final hours of the summer window.
Brighton’s sporting director Mike Cave welcomed the arrival, highlighting Azeez’s standout Championship season and saying the club look forward to working with him.
The clubs lodged a deal sheet before the 11pm deadline, then finalised the transfer ahead of the extended 1am cut-off on Wednesday.
Azeez made 77 appearances for Millwall, scoring 15 goals and supplying 13 assists. He was named in both the PFA and EFL Championship teams of the season after returning 11 goals and seven assists.
Having come through Watford’s academy, he rose from non-League with Northwood, Wealdstone and Hanwell Town before joining Reading in 2019. He moved to Millwall in 2024 for around £1m.
He debuted for Nigeria in June, scoring twice in a 2-0 win over Zimbabwe, then added an assist as they beat Jamaica 3-0 four days later.
The agreement, an initial £12.5m with add-ons taking it beyond £15m, could become Millwall’s record sale, surpassing Romain Esse’s £14m switch to Crystal Palace last year.
Azeez is primarily a left-footed right winger and can operate on the left. He adds to wide options alongside Yankuba Minteh, for whom Liverpool had £50m and £60m bids rejected, and who is out until October.
