Brighton have completed the signing of Jaouen Hadjam from Swiss Super League champions Young Boys on a contract until June 2031.
The 23-year-old left-back joins the Seagulls for a fee of around £9.5m after establishing himself as a regular in Switzerland, making 98 domestic and Europa League appearances for Young Boys.
Sporting director Mike Cave believes Hadjam will strengthen Brighton’s defensive options and praised the Algeria international’s qualities.
“We believe Jaouen will be a great addition to the group, adding to our already strong options in defence,” Cave said.
“He is a modern left-back known for his pace, attacking output and technical abilities which fits our style of play well.
“He has proven himself to be a versatile player in Switzerland and we are looking forward to working with him.”
The Seagulls are also exploring a deal for Deportivo La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez but face competition from Hull City for his signature.
Liverpool remain keen on signing Yankuba Minteh but have been put off by Brighton’s £80m valuation.
