According to Sport Bild, Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler plans one final attempt to persuade Said El Mala to join the Premier League club.

After months of speculation, the 19-year-old now appears likely to remain at Köln, with a move to England yet to materialise.

Brighton were linked earlier this summer, then cooled their interest when Köln stood firm on a €50 million valuation. Even so, the Seagulls have not entirely ended their pursuit.

The report also notes Hürzeler recognises a switch to Brighton is unlikely. El Mala, seemingly targeting one of the Premier League’s top clubs, and his family have previously rejected interest from Newcastle United and Brentford.

Even if he is convinced, any deal would still require agreement on a fee with Köln, who have no intention of lowering their asking price.
