Transfermarkt now confirms reports from Sport Bild, Sky Germany, and the Kölner Express regarding the future of 1. FC Köln left back Leart Paçarada. The German-Kosovar will transfer to FC Heidenheim on a complex deal. Paçarada played an important role for Köln last year during their 2. Bundesliga promotion campaign and was even linked with a move to Bristol City this summer.
The soon-to-be-confirmed move nevertheless makes a great deal of sense for both Bundesliga clubs. Köln acquired Kristoffer Lund to serve at Paçarada’s position and the American left back has won out in training camp. Heidenheim have an exigent need for help at the left-back position. Köln are also trying to reduce their 32-man-squad size.
Köln were able to slash the squad down to 32 professionals with a low-value sale of one of the their three strikers deemed unfit for top division play. Florian Dietz joined former Köln colleague Steffen Tigges in moving to the German lower divisions. Dietz was sold to 3. Liga outfit SSV Jahn Regensburg for a negligible fee. Köln are still attempting to move strikers Imad Rondic and defensive midfielder Jacob Christensen.
