Barnet have announced the surprise signing of former DR Congo international Britt Assombalonga.
The former Watford, Nottingham Forest, and Middlesbrough man had been plying his trade in Turkey, spending the 2023/24 season at Antalyaspor and last year Amedspor where he scored three goals in 18 games in the second tier.
Now, the 32-year-old is in the fourth tier of English football after signing for Barnet.
"After speaking to the Gaffer [Dean Brennan] and [Assistant] Connor [Smith], it’s something that I wanted to do and we finally got it over the line," the forward said on his arrival.
"Dean just wants me to be me at the end of the day and get back to doing what I do best.”
Assombalonga could potentially make his debut for the Bees on Tuesday at home to Cambridge United in the EFL Trophy. When the new arrival does make his debut it will be his first game in English football since April 2023, in a 2-2 draw for Watford against Coventry City.
Barnet are currently 10th in League two, with 20 points from their opening 13 games.
