Lucy Bronze has been named as England Women Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season.
The award, which also covers the period of the Lionesses Euro 2025 win, was voted for by fans and they have named Chelsea defender Bronze as the best for the year, beating impact player Chloe Kelly and reliable goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
It has been a strange year for England, who didn't play at their best to retain their European crown while also seeing veteran players step away from the national team.
One person who was ever-present though was Lucy Bronze, who showed her tenacity through the summer tournament.
"I wasn’t expecting it but it’s always nice to get recognition, especially from England fans," Bronze said after she was presented with the award.
"I adore playing for England and I have put my heart and soul into every game over the last 12 years. In that respect, it’s a huge honour and especially after such a crazy year with the EUROs. I’m very proud.
"For me, 2015 was a real starting point as an England player; 2019, I feel like that’s when I was hitting my peak as an individual, but this year has been something that I couldn’t have imagined. The way we won the EUROs, the noise around it and women’s football in general this year has been out of this world."
Bronze is a part of Sarina Wiegman's squad for the upcoming friendly games against Brazil and Australia where she will be looking to add to her 140 caps.
