Flamengo have long held an interest in Luiz Henrique, but his brother Diego refused to be drawn on talk of a move, keeping the focus on the Zenit forward’s present.

"I cannot answer that, I cannot say. I cannot talk about that now. I want to do my best for my club, then decide my future with my family," he said, speaking to Canal Goat in late March.

In recent days the Zenit attacker has been in Rio with Brazil, and on Sunday 31 Diego attended the Maracanã to support him. Asked about a possible switch to Flamengo, he said he knew nothing, noted that players of his level attract interest, and stressed his brother plays for Zenit and for Brazil as things stand. He started against Panama on Sunday 31 and could earn further minutes for Brazil. The five-time world champions face Egypt on Saturday 6 at 19:00 Brasília time.
