Wes Brown has urged Manchester United to go all-out in pursuit of Crystal Palace starlet Adam Wharton this summer.

As things stand, Red Devils chiefs are heavily scouring the market for a young but proven midfielder who will almost seamlessly replace Casemiro when he leaves the club in June.

Wharton is among a lengthy list of targets for United

It goes without saying that doing so will not be an easy task by any means, especially when you factor in that most Premier League sides, where INEOS have compiled their list of targets, will add their usual United tax to any potential fee for their players.

The same can be said for Wharton, whose future with the Eagles is expected to be up in the air come the end of the season.

Palace have already had to reluctantly bid farewell to integral starters Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi this season, so they will do their utmost to keep hold of the coveted youngster when suitors start circling around the time the window opens, especially considering that they’re currently having to make plans for the impending departure of manager Oliver Glasner when his contract expires

Yet, Brown is adamant that Wharton is the most suitable candidate to partner Kobbie Mainoo for the coming seasons at Old Trafford.

What Brown had to say about Wharton

“I love Adam. When we played Palace the other day, I made myself have a good look at him, and he is so good on the ball,” the former Red told the Metro.

“That would be a great asset for the club. He would cost a lot of money, but it would be tough for Crystal Palace to keep another of their top players. But that position does need filling. He and Kobbie could be a great partnership.”

“I just look at Adam Wharton, and he’s very good on the ball, very athletic, very complete,” Brown continued.

“With the quality of players they have had, Palace should be mid-table at least. You look at Eze at Arsenal and Guehi at Man City now, and he is really showing what he is all about. Wharton can, hopefully, do the same.”
