Former Benfica midfielder Bruno Aguiar, who spent three seasons at Hearts, has looked back on his Tynecastle spell as the clubs meet in the Europa League on Thursday 13 August. He plans to watch from the stands.
"It has been 20 years!", he told Record.
A champion with Benfica the previous season under Giovanni Trapattoni, he moved to Hearts in January 2006 after losing his place. Ronald Koeman’s arrival and an early 2005/06 injury curtailed his minutes, opening the door to Scotland.
"I once played against Celtic as a youth and the Hearts coach at the time saw me. Plus my agent knew the Hearts president and it came together."
"It was a mix of emotions when I saw the draw. It is always good to see these two great clubs, the negative is that one will go out."
"It is a fantastic club, the fans are very close to the team and back them until the last minute, it is a very different mentality. I miss the club."
