Bruno Fernandes has named Marcus Rashford as one of Manchester United’s earliest arrivals at Carrington this season, with the returning winger regularly getting to the training ground alongside Benjamin Sesko.

However, Fernandes told Sky Sports (via The Sun) that Diogo Dalot is usually the very first eager beaver to arrive at Carrington.

Rashford’s route back to Old Trafford

Rashford returned to Manchester United during the summer after spending 18 months away from his boyhood club on loan.

The England winger joined Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, having been frozen out by former United head coach Ruben Amorim.

He then moved to Barcelona for the following season, but the Catalan club declined the opportunity to keep him permanently.

Barcelona instead favoured a £70 million move for Anthony Gordon, leaving Rashford to return to Old Trafford for another chance with the Red Devils.

With no other acceptable offers forthcoming, Rashford reprised his role at United.

Fernandes lifts the lid on Carrington mornings

Asked who usually arrives first for training, Fernandes immediately identified his fellow Portugal international Dalot.

“Normally, always Diogo [Dalot]. He’s always here first,” the United captain said.

Fernandes then placed Rashford and summer arrival Sesko among the players who have made a habit of reporting early this term.

“This season, also Rashy, and Ben [Sesko], are normally the ones that arrive early. Together with me.”

The midfielder explained that his own schedule can change when he takes his children to school, although even an especially early journey does not necessarily put him ahead of Dalot.

“But obviously it depends. Because I sometimes like to drop my kids at school, so sometimes I get in even earlier because they are [at] school at 8:20 or 8:30.

“So, I come straight away and I get here early. But normally Diogo is already here!”

Rashford, 28, has already worked his way back into the starting side during the opening weeks of the new Premier League season.

He began the opening-day defeat to Hull City among the substitutes before being introduced at half-time.

The winger subsequently started United’s next two league fixtures, demonstrating that his summer return has quickly translated into first-team opportunities.

Fernandes’ comments offer a further glimpse into Rashford’s approach behind the scenes. After two separate loan spells and uncertainty over his future, his punctuality at Carrington has caught the captain’s attention alongside that of Sesko and the consistently early Dalot.
