Bruno Fernandes turned down astronomical offer from Saudi Pro League to stay at Manchester United | OneFootball

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes turned down a big-money offer from the Saudi Pro League (SPL) during this summer’s World Cup. 

The 31-year-old previously rejected a bid from Al-Hilal last year. 

On this occasion, SPL bosses tried to lure the experienced midfielder away from United. 

According to the Sunday Mirror, the salary on offer was a whopping £640,000 per week, tax-free, over four years, totalling an astronomical £133 million. 

Fernandes once again demonstrated his commitment to United by rejecting the lucrative proposal. 

The Portuguese has a year left on his current contract at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils having an option to extend it by another 12 months. 

Fernandes has been United’s best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. He has bagged 107 goals and 108 assists in 328 appearances.

He recently won the prestigious Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year award after an excellent 2025-26 season. 

He registered 21 assists in the Premier League to break the previous record of 20 jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. 

Fernandes struggled to create chances and influence the game against Hull City last weekend.

The Portugal international will look to bounce back when United welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford on Sunday.
