Bruno Fuchs returned to Palmeiras' starting side in a 2-0 win over São Paulo at Nubank Parque on Saturday, putting him in contention to face LDU in Quito on Wednesday.

According to Nosso Palestra, his chance follows a spell hit by fitness problems and an appendicitis operation, leaving him almost three months without action after the World Cup break. João Martins had called it a bit of bad luck.

Across the three months before the clássico he played only nine minutes, late in the Libertadores last-16 second leg at Cerro Porteño in Paraguay. His previous outing before the break came against Chapecoense on 31 May.

Gustavo Gómez picked up his third yellow card in the first leg against LDU and is suspended for the return, so Abel Ferreira must reshuffle his defence, with Fuchs a natural candidate.
