Bruno Lage’s Al Diriyah sign Lyon’s Mathys De Carvalho for €1.1m | OneFootball

Bruno Lage’s Al Diriyah have signed Lyon midfielder Mathys De Carvalho. Lyon said in a statement the deal is worth €1.1m and includes a 10% share of any future profit.

The newly promoted Saudi Pro League side are coached by Bruno Lage, formerly Benfica manager in 2019-2020 and again from 2024 to 2025. Lyon are currently led by Paulo Fonseca.

De Carvalho, a 21-year-old Portugal under-20 international developed at Lyon’s academy, leaves for his first move abroad. He made 22 senior appearances across all competitions for the French club.

He debuted on 19 September 2025 against Angers. Lyon thanked him for his years of dedication and wished him success at Al Diriyah.

Lage’s squad already features Idrissa Gueye, Enzo Millot, Gaetan Laborde and Chancel Mbemba, formerly of Porto. De Carvalho will be an opponent of Richard Ríos, the new Al Ittihad midfielder.
