Mathys De Carvalho expected to join Al-Diriyah from Lyon | OneFootball

Lyon midfielder Mathys De Carvalho is expected to join Saudi Pro League newcomers Al-Diriyah for about €one million. According to L'Équipe, the 21-year-old could finalise the move in the coming days.

The Portugal Under-20 international, who has 10 caps, had interest from several Saudi clubs and in Portugal. Al-Diriyah are expected to win the race.

The ambitious promoted side, already home to Chancel Mbemba, Idrissa Gueye, Enzo Millot and Gaëtan Laborde, have convinced OL with an offer that includes bonuses.

De Carvalho has been swayed by head coach Bruno Lage and could travel within hours for a medical before signing until June 2029. The window in Saudi Arabia runs until 12 October.

An OL academy graduate, the defensive midfielder has made 12 Ligue 1 appearances and eight in the Europa League under Paulo Fonseca, who handed him his breakthrough and regularly trusted him in midfield.
