Bruno Valdez has admitted his days as América could be numbered as manager Fernando Ortiz looks to freshen up the squad ahead of the Clausura 2023.
The 30-year-old centre-back has become somewhat of a peripheral figure at the Azulcrema, making just eight appearances during the regular Apertura season (six starts).
He didn’t play any part in the Liguilla after injury had disrupted his campaign, with his last appearance for Las Águilas coming against Tigres in early September.
Speaking about his future, the Paraguay international admitted that he is aware of potential interest from Major League Soccer.
“I read about Chicago [Fire] but nobody spoke to me. I have a contract until June with them (América),” he told the Fútbol a lo Grande radio show in his native land.
“The club is renewing its squad and I could be released. The president of the club told me that when he has something formal he would let me know.”
Valdez has enjoyed success during his six-and-a-half years at the Estadio Azteca, winning the Apertura 2018, Copa MX Clausura 2019 and the Campeón de Campeones in 2019.
